Welcome to Utah Studies

Utah is an amazing place, rich in resources, geographic wonders, inspiring history, and diversity of its people. The study of Utah allows students to understand more deeply the place they call home. Utah Studies offers an opportunity for students to learn about their own families and cultures as well as those of others. The Utah Studies standards are based on four social studies disciplines: history, geography, economics, and civics. We will explore the complex history of Utah, with examples of creativity, sacrifice, conflict, innovation, inequity, compromise, and leadership. Additionally, we will learn about Utah’s diverse physical geography, encounter Utah’s economic systems and dynamics, and explore local and statewide political systems.

In my classes, I utilize Canvas to post what we do in class each day as well as post copies of the assignments given that day. This means if you are absent from class you will need to check Canvas to see what you need to complete. I do my best to have Canvas updated each day, I typically will have this done no later than the end of the school day, so please be patient.

You can access the Scholar Academy Canvas page here.

In our class, we will be doing a lot of reading and writing, be prepared! Make sure you bring with you to class something to write with and something to take notes on. It is not my responsibility to provide these for you.
